Brisbane artist Sebastian Di Mauro's disctintive sculptures are on display in the first survey exhibition of his works in footnotes of a verdurous tale: Sebastian Di Mauro 1987-2009, open at QUT Art Museum until the new year.
Di Mauro's works, some made of astroturf, wetsuit material, sugar or olive oil, are not just for display, visitors can touch and play with the materials in a unique interactive component to the exhibition.
Di Mauro's large scale public artworks are dotted around the city and include a pair of gesticulating hands, 'Chat', on Eagle Street and 'Drift', two monolithic seed pods, on Charlotte Street.
QUT Art Museum will be closed from 25 December for the Christmas break, reopening on 12 January 2010.

William Robinson Gallery: Realms of Vision
Open now
‘Realms of Vision: The Art of William Robinson’ presents an overview of this Brisbane-born artist’s work through the genres that have dominated his mature output: the interior, farmyard, landscape, seascape and self-portraiture. Comprising forty-one works, the exhibition includes paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints and ceramics as well as various sketchbooks and photographs. A highlight is the artist’s palette used to create paintings from 2001 to 2008 and gifted by the artist to the William Robinson Gallery in 2008.
